A short hike at Mount Madonna County Park. I hiked up on Loop Trail, took the shortcut along Tie Camp Trail and hiked down on Merry-Go-Round Trail.

Chaparral Pea
Chaparral Pea, Pickeringia montana, is common in this part of Mount Madonna. The pink flowers are very pretty.

Redwood Trail
Tie Camp Trail begins with a cool redwood grove.

On the trail through the redwoods, a garter snake was basking in a spot of sun.

Wild honeysuckle was flowering in shady places along the trail.

Panorama from Mount Madonna
This is only four of five photos. It was taken near the junction of Tie Camp and Merry-Go-Round Trails.

Mariposa Lily
A Mariposa lily. I find the patterns on the inside of the flowers intriguing.

The one that appears to have a collar is in flower.
